Elections
The City of Marfa holds annual elections to elect the Mayor and 5 City Council members. The Mayor serves a two-year term, and City Council members serve two-year staggered terms.
The next General Election will be held on Saturday, May, 4, 2024.
Early voting will be held:
April 22, 2024 through April 30, 2024 in the Casner Room @ City Hall

To apply for a place on the ballot, pick up or print out a Candidate Packet, fill it out and return it to City hall by or before 5:00pm on 2/16/24.
According to Texas Election Code, to be eligible to run for city council, an applicant must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be 18 years of age or older on the first day of term or date of appointment
- Reside within the State of Texas for at least 12 months
- Reside within the City of Marfa for at least 6 months immediately preceding the applicant filing for office
- Has not been declared mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote
- Has not been convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disabilities
