We are extremely grateful to the city, the sheriff, our local crew, the hotels, restaurants, location owners, neighbors, folks who appeared as extras, and the school, for helping us to capture the uniqueness of Marfa as our backdrop and for welcoming our production with open arms. There’s a beautiful texture of small town and landscape here, that can’t quite be found anywhere else.

Bringing with me 20 students from theatre and art, along with a host of well-known guest artists from all over the country, I found Marfa to be the perfect place where creativity, aesthetics, and generosity abound. Not only were my guests and students welcomed with open arms, but the entire city embraced their education by sharing their art, their readings, their rehearsals, and their spaces.

Texas Cultural Trust chose Marfa for our 2016 Board Retreat because we wanted to be in a culturally rich city that supports its creative community.  We also wanted to experience that unique, artistic vibe Marfa is so well-known for as inspiration for our next steps as an organization.
